Why Does This Discrepancy Occur?
Drive manufacturers market hard drives and SSDs in Decimal (Base 10): 1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 Bytes.
However, Microsoft Windows calculates capacity in Binary (Base 2): 1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 Bytes, while still labeling the unit as “GB”. Your drive isn’t missing space; it is simply measured using binary numbering.
